Before Applying for an HPC Account

Before applying for an HPC account, please read and understand the following information.

Understanding HPC policies

Before applying for an HPC account please read and understand all HPC policies. HPC is a shared resource that serves the entire USC research community. An effort has been made to make its use as fair as possible; thus, there are usage limits for both computing and storage. It is expected that all researchers understand and abide by these policies. Compliance with these policies will be a factor in the evaluation of account renewals.

Acknowledging HPC Support

Any form of publication, including webpages, resulting from work done on HPC machines should include an acknowledgment similar to the following:

Computation for the work described in this paper was supported by the University of Southern California’s Center for High-Performance Computing (https://hpcc.usc.edu).

Example:

This research was supported by the Department of Energy, Office of Science, Basic Energy Sciences, Materials Science and Engineering Division, Grant # DE-FG02-04ER-46130. The simulations were performed at the Center for High-Performance Computing at the University of Southern California (https://hpcc.usc.edu).

Providing Grant and Publication Information

To help measure return on investment, HPC requires that you submit information about grants and other funding that support HPC research and on publications that have been made possible through the use of HPC. Grants and published papers acknowledging HPC should be submitted through the HPC project website. Be sure to include complete publication information and a link to or copy of the actual publication (URL, PDF, PS), if possible. Please indicate if there are any restrictions on publication. Compliance with this policy will be a factor in the evaluation of account renewals.
